Additional Requirements Financial Support Fund

Means tested financial support towards accommodation for students with a disability or long-term condition starting at Bath in the 2026/27 academic year.

If you have a disability or long-term condition, we offer accommodation options designed to meet your needs. This can include adjustments for wheelchair usage or extra space for special equipment.

Should you need help with your accommodation requirements, please contact  reslifesupport@bath.ac.uk and find more information about Student Accommodation.

We also encourage you to discuss your requirements with the Disability Service when you apply to Bath.

Financial support for students with additional accommodation requirements

Students with additional accommodation requirements who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for financial support if:

  • your additional accommodation requirements result from a disability or long-term condition
  • you are a home undergraduate student whose household income is under £62,410 (we will verify this via the Student Loans Company)
  • you indicate that the additional cost associated with your additional accommodation requirements will place you in financial hardship
  • you will be living in University managed accommodation

If you receive this award, it will amount to £2000 per year to help with the cost of living in University accommodation.

The total is made of two parts:

  • our means-tested scholarships and bursaries (the Bath Bursary, the Gold Scholarship programme, and the Accommodation Bursary)
  • the Additional Requirements Financial Support Fund, is combined with the above to provide a total level of support of £2,000

If you are not eligible to apply for this support and find during your time at university that you are experiencing financial difficulties, please contact Student Money Advice.

How to apply

If you have applied for accommodation with Additional Requirements and will be a home undergraduate student starting in the 2026/27 academic year, we will contact you after applications close in July 2026, with further details so that you can decide whether you are eligible and need to apply.

As part of the application process, we will assess your household income which we receive from the Student Loans Company (SLC). This information is shared directly with the university through a secure portal.

You will be informed of the outcome of your application from mid September 2026, once you have accepted your room allocation.

If your application for the Additional Requirements Support fund is approved, this will be applied to your accommodation account prior to the second instalment due in January 2027, after you start at Bath. Please apply by 30 November 2026 to ensure the funding can be applied to this instalment.
