Self-help guides
The has a range of IT and AV self-help guides, tutorials and troubleshooting steps covering many common tasks and issues. They are available at any time, so you can get help outside our support hours or during busy periods.
To search the guides, type a few keywords into the Self-Service Portal search bar. You can also select the Self-Help Guides tile to see the full list, which includes step-by-step guidance on:
- resetting or changing your University password
- resetting or setting up multi-factor authentication (MFA)
- connecting to the University Wi-Fi (eduroam)
- printing with the University Print Service
- accessing software packages
- setting up VPN

Submit an IT or AV support request
The quickest way to get help is through the where you can easily submit and track your IT or AV support requests in one place.
Within DDaT Support, services are organised by type, so go to the relevant area and find the service you need there.

Visit us
You can visit us at the IT and AV Service Desk on level 2 of the Library during our opening hours.
Ticket escalations
To escalate a ticket, reply to your original request in the 'My Requests and Reservations' section of the rather than submitting a new one. A team member will get back to you as soon as possible.
Teaching support
During Semester 1 and Semester 2, DDaT provides extended hours of support for IT and AV equipment in teaching spaces. View academic year dates for semester timings:
- Monday to Thursday: 8am to 7:20pm
- Friday: 8am to 6:20pm
Outside these semesters, teaching support is available during our standard support hours.
If you experience an urgent AV or IT issue during a lecture, please call extension 4846 or 01225 384846.

AV equipment loan
DDaT offers a small amount of AV equipment to support on-campus teaching or events. To request equipment, please use our .
Out-of-hours emergency IT support
We offer out-of-hours support for emergency issues, such as mass security breaches. We do not offer 24-hour cover.
- Monday to Friday: 6pm to 10pm
- Saturday, Sunday, bank holidays and University holidays: 8am to 10pm
To report an IT emergency, contact the Security team, located in the foyer of the Library. You can do this in person or call 01225 385349. They will contact a member of the on-call DDaT Team.
