We are now seeking an outstanding communications professional to help realise these ambitions. You will lead the development and delivery of high-impact communications across a complex set of academic, civic, commercial and community stakeholders, ensuring that the University’s ambitions are clearly articulated, widely shared and powerfully brought to life.

You will work at the heart of transformational change programmes that align with the University’s strategy for Innovation. If you are a strategic communicator who thrives on collaboration, creativity and purpose-driven change, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Your role will be varied, involving:

  • Developing and delivering tailored communication strategies for complex projects, aligning with project timelines and deliverables
  • Collaborating with a diverse network of internal and external stakeholders
  • Producing high-quality content (copywriting, photography, video)
  • Organising and implementing engagement activities such as briefings and events
  • Defining success metrics, tracking engagement and reporting on outcomes

About you:

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong communications experience within a project/change environment
  • Outstanding planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Confidence working in dynamic and ambiguous environments
  • Experience creating engaging multimedia content, with an understanding of different audiences

Experience within Higher Education or another large, complex organisation is beneficial, as is experience in public engagement or research communications.

The role is available on a full-time fixed term basis of a minimum 24 months. 

This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 2 days a week on campus (including Tuesdays).

We’re looking for an experienced and organised Events Manager to lead the planning and delivery of our Summer Graduation ceremonies and celebratory receptions in July 2026, one of the most memorable moments in the University calendar. 

In this key role, you will:

  • Take the lead on every aspect of the graduation experience, from detailed operational planning to on-the-day management.
  • Deliver a professional, seamless experience for around 5,000 graduating students and their guests across Bath Abbey and the Bath Recreation Ground.
  • Manage suppliers, budgets, logistics, and risk assessments, while briefing senior staff and coordinating internal teams.
  • Work closely with colleagues across Academic Registry, the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, and the wider Events & Ceremonies team.
  • Help shape the future of University events by contributing to continuous improvement and early planning for ceremonies beyond 2026.

Graduation is a highlight of the year, celebrating achievement and community. You’ll join a friendly, experienced Events team that also delivers Open Days, Virtual Open Days, public lectures and other University events.

About you

You’ll bring:

  • Significant experience of planning and delivering large, complex or high-profile events, ideally within higher education or a similar environment.
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities calmly and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence when briefing senior stakeholders and managing suppliers or temporary staff.
  • Sensitivity, diplomacy, and a customer-focused approach, ensuring every guest feels valued.
  • The flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends during event periods (with TOIL provided).
  • A degree (or equivalent experience), and proven success managing budgets and event teams, will be essential.

This role is offered on a fixed-term basis (36.5 hours per week), starting in February 2026, with an expected end date of 11 September 2026.
