About the Role

As a Supervisor within the Âé¶¹´«Ã½’s Front of House team, you’ll take day‑to‑day operational responsibility for one of our busy hospitality outlets. You will lead shifts, support Food & Beverage Assistants and casual staff, and ensure smooth, efficient service at all times. Your duties will include delivering daily briefings, allocating tasks, managing breaks and maintaining our high standards of customer service.

You will be responsible for upholding all food safety, HACCP and due‑diligence procedures, monitoring wastage, overseeing orders and goods receiving, and ensuring accurate portion control. Clear communication with the kitchen team is essential, as is supporting the promotion of marketing campaigns and maintaining accurate menu and information displays.

The role also involves maintaining high health & safety standards, responding to incidents, reporting maintenance issues, and ensuring the workspace remains safe and compliant. You’ll contribute to on‑shift training, support team development, and be encouraged to bring fresh ideas to improve the way we work.

This is a full‑time role (36.5 hours, 5‑over‑7), including early mornings, evenings and weekends, in a fast‑paced, friendly campus environment with opportunities for progression, development, and genuine impact.

About the department

Campus Services supports Âé¶¹´«Ã½ life by housing over 5,000 students during the academic year and hosting external organisations for conferences, summer camps and away‑day events during the summer.

Established in August 2022, the department brings together all University facilities teams to deliver high‑quality services that enhance the experience of students, staff, visitors and commercial customers, and support excellence in education and research.

With over 400 staff, Campus Services includes Student Living, Hospitality, Retail, Cleaning and Portering, Security, Postal Services and Landscaping. Over the past year, we have continued to develop our services to meet the University’s evolving needs.

About the role

As a Porter you’ll have a key role in helping students transition from living at home to fully independent living and ensuring all our accommodation users have the best possible experience when staying with us.

Responsibilities include:

  • Removing waste and recycling from accommodation areas
  • Restocking essential customer supplies in accommodation areas
  • Collecting and sorting linen and bedding
  • Reporting maintenance issues
  • Ensuring health and safety guidance is followed
  • Acting as the face of the department, engaging with students and visitors

This is a permanent, full‑time role, working 36.5 hours per week from 9:00am to 5:20pm. The position follows a 5‑over‑7 working pattern, with an expectation to work weekends on a rotational basis. Weekend rota requirements apply mainly during the summer peak period, from May to September.

We are seeking a reliable and proactive part-time Cleaner Porter to join our friendly Campus Services team within Cleaning and Portering. This role offers a varied workload, and a typical day may include:

  • Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness within designated areas
  • Emptying general waste and recycling bins
  • Assisting with the movement of furniture, equipment, and deliveries
  • Supporting room setups for events, meetings, and teaching activities
  • Responding to reactive requests from building users and facilities teams
