You will

  • play a key role in assisting the team in providing high quality childcare and education appropriate to the age and stage of development of the children
  • work to maintain a safe, secure and caring environment
  • be required to complete tasks inline with the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • maintain children’s records and carry out assessments, ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to and implemented in the Nursery

A core responsibility is planning and providing safe, appropriate, child-led and adult initiated experiences, activities and play opportunities indoor, outdoor and in out-of-setting contexts, which enable children to develop and learn. Importantly, you will support the Room Leader acting as a role model in supervising and monitoring Nursery Assistants, casual workers, students and volunteers. 

You will:

  • be a good team player with sound communication and organisation skills
  • have knowledge and understanding of the EYFS curriculum with the ability to support the development of our children
  • have relevant qualifications (minimum NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or above)
  • be able to work in a team to observe, assess and plan as a key person
  • be able to produce written documentation to support the progress of individual children, being sensitive to their needs.

We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven individual to lead and manage Reception and Switchboard operations across student and commercial accommodation, ensuring high standards of customer service, procedural consistency, and staff performance.

The role oversees the recruitment, training, and supervision of reception staff, supports effective enquiry handling and communication, and ensures compliance with financial, data protection, and key/access procedures.

It plays a vital role in enhancing the student, guest, and visitor experience through cross-department collaboration, group and event support, and responsive service delivery.

Additionally, the post holder maintains accurate operational systems, manages switchboard functions, and contributes to the success of Campus Services through teamwork and flexibility.

About you

You will be able to:

  • Lead day-to-day reception operations across campus hubs
  • Recruit, train, and manage reception staff
  • Manage rotas and enquiry handling systems
  • Oversee check-in/out processes and maintain accurate records
  • Manage the University Switchboard and ensure professional communication
  • Work collaboratively to deliver a high-quality campus experience

This role is offered on a full-time (36.5 hours per week) permanent basis, with weekend working required on a rotational basis in accordance with a 5 out of 7 day schedule.

About the role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking commis chef to join the Âé¶¹´«Ã½’s kitchen team! Based in Pitstop Café during term time, you’ll prepare and cook all-day breakfast, pasties, jackets, and crepes in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment. You’ll work alongside an experienced front-of-house team, ensuring smooth service while maintaining top standards of cleanliness and health and safety.

Term-time shifts are mainly 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, five days a week (36.5 hours). In the summer, you’ll support the main kitchen with summer schools and conference packages, covering mornings, evenings, and weekends. Training and uniforms are provided, and there are excellent opportunities for development and promotion.

About you

You’re passionate about cooking and have experience as a junior chef. An NVQ in Food Preparation is a bonus. You thrive in a busy kitchen, stay positive under pressure, and work well as part of a team. You’re flexible, reliable, and ready to contribute to a dynamic kitchen environment where your skills will grow and your efforts are valued.
