The Department manages and organises a range of activities under the University’s sports brand - - and aspires to create a world leading multi-sport environment delivering to elite athletes, staff and students of the University and the local and regional community.  Based in the inspiring £35m Sports Training Village, the Department offers a wide range of high quality sports activities, programmes, events, services and facilities catering for all ages and abilities.

About the role

Whilst the work is varied and at times demanding, it is also very rewarding as you will be involved in supporting the delivery of a wide range of activities including:

  • our Performance Pathway programme
  • our network of Athlete Development Centres
  • our thriving Holiday Camps and School visit programme
  • our exciting NXT Gen match-days.

You will need strong IT skills, be highly organised and have the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team will be required.

The role requires the ability to manage and prioritise often complex and varied requests from different members of staff and customer groups to support the effective delivery of the Team Bath Netball Programme. You will need to be highly organised, adaptable and solution-focused, with the ability to help overcome challenges in a professional and approachable way. A solid understanding of the netball landscape - both regionally and nationally - will be critical to the success in this role.

Further information

This is a part-time role, working an average of 21.9 hours per week (0.6 fte) for a fixed-term period of 2 years.

A Level 2 England Netball Coaching Qualification is desirable.

This is an exciting opportunity to promote a variety of strands in a diverse environment targeting multiple audiences and age-groups, including the University’s staff and students, the public, community and elite sports organisations coupled with high profile events. This means you’ll be promoting everything from Olympians and Paralympians across several sports to those taking their first steps in sport.

About you

Ideally you will have experience of managing staff in a marketing and communications environment, with demonstrable evidence of contributing to development of marketing and communications strategies, particularly to enable future commercial success. 

It would be favourable if you have competence in general marketing skills including social media, graphics creation (using software such as photoshop) and creating web content. You must have good written skills to help with press content and associated PR initiatives. 

You will:

  • develop and deliver effective marketing plans and campaigns that drive sales across the Department-wide range of commercial activities.
  • lead the DSDR marketing team in the implementation of its marketing and communications activities including internal and external communications, brand development and management, all media activities across a wide range of platforms, sponsorship and general marketing. 

Good planning skills are imperative to help organise the various marketing initiatives across the breadth of the business. Equally, good time management skills and ability to prioritise are inherently essential.

The primary focus of the role will be the delivery of group tennis coaching sessions to players on our community tennis programme. 

Programme Overview

is one of the UK’s leading integrated tennis programmes, offering a complete pathway for players of all ages and abilities within a single, connected performance environment. Based at the Âé¶¹´«Ã½, the programme brings together recreational players, ambitious student athletes, developing juniors, and elite performers under a coordinated structure designed to deliver excellence, community, and competitive success.

  • A Complete Player Pathway – from Mini Tennis and club coaching to academy, university performance squads, and international competition
  • A Dual Performance Environment – blending the University’s elite sport culture with a thriving community club, supported by world class facilities and coaching expertise.
  • Highly Qualified Coaching & Leadership – covering performance, development, participation, S&C, and programme operations.
  • A Commitment to Inclusion & Growth – making tennis accessible, engaging, and enjoyable for players at every level.

Team Bath Tennis continues to grow as a model programme - balancing professionalism, pathway clarity, and an athlete centred ethos to serve its university, community, and performance audiences with equal strength.

About you

You will be an experienced tennis coach with:

  • a tennis coaching qualification
  • extensive knowledge and experience of mini and junior tennis and/or club coaching
  • excellent communication skills
  • enthusiasm with a passion for developing young people within the sport of tennis.

Our mandate is to introduce Tennis to all abilities and develop them to a county, regional & national level. We’re looking for someone to actively participate with us in this mission.

Further information

The Programme runs for 42 weeks of the year with an additional 10 weeks of holiday camps. Most of this work will be between the hours of 4-9pm Monday to Friday as well as Saturday mornings and may also include some early morning sessions. 

On average, you will work 1 morning, 4 evenings and a Saturday morning on each of the 42 weeks of the coaching programme and 5 weeks of holiday camps.
