This is an exciting opportunity for a registered mental health nurse to develop clinical and research interests relevant to the mental health of young people (aged 14-25). 

The postholder will develop applied research in youth mental health in collaboration with the Bath MHRG and the Liaison Psychiatry Service at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.  

The broad remit of the research is applied research that will improve the understanding and provision of care directly impacting the mental health of young people. 

Topics of particular interest include nurse training and practice relevant to the care of young attendees at emergency departments presenting with self-harm, the mental health care of young parents, acute medical admissions and other underserved populations. 

The postholder will spend up to two days in direct clinical activity with the specific role negotiated with the services. 

This post offers an excellent opportunity to a nurse aspiring to further research training with the aim of developing a clinical academic career. 

Joining the Bath MHRG offers training and infrastructure to support such development including NIHR academy membership. 

There is support to complete a PhD during the period of the post.   

The partnership with Bristol NHS Foundation Trust Bristol and Weston affords access to high quality ongoing clinical and professional development and the opportunity to develop clinical research that is relevant and embedded within services. 

It is possible to remain in the NHS pension scheme throughout the duration of this post. 

This 3-year post is an integral part of the NIHR funded Bath Mental Health Research Group . 

This Clinical Research Fellow post is fully funded with academic grading reflecting the clinical pay equivalent up to NHS band 8a.

This post can also be as a secondment to the Â鶹´«Ã½ subject to the agreement by the employing NHS trust.

As a member of Research Staff at the Â鶹´«Ã½, you will be encouraged to take up a minimum of 10 days professional development pro rata per year. 

About you

This post is suited to applicants who are registered mental health nurses with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience with experience of crisis assessment.

Candidates will have a clear interest in youth mental health and a commitment to developing research relevant to understanding and improving clinical practice for this group.

This innovative new post is an opportunity for an experienced clinical pharmacist to develop a clinical academic research role with a focus on the mental health of young people (aged 14-25) within our region. 

The postholder will develop applied research in youth mental health in collaboration with the Bath MHRG and pharmacy staff from the university’s Department of Life Sciences alongside the pharmacy team at the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust. 

There will also be opportunities to collaborate with staff from neighbouring NHS organisations.  

The broad remit of role is the development applied research that will improve the understanding and provision of care directly impacting the mental health of young people. 

Topics of interest include medication access, adherence, and health service use in young people with mental health conditions during life transitions. 

The postholder will spend up to two days in direct clinical activity with the specific role negotiated with the services. 

This post offers an excellent opportunity for a clinical pharmacist aspiring to a future clinical academic career to develop a broad range of research skills. Joining the Bath MHRG offers training and infrastructure to support such development including NIHR academy membership. There would be support available to undertake a PhD as part of the post if desired by the postholder.

About the role

Join our highly supportive team in the Department of Psychology at the Â鶹´«Ã½, where you will be helping to teach aspirational undergraduate and postgraduate students in Psychology, particularly on the Clinical Associate Psychology Master's, and the Clinical Psychology Doctorate. 

This role will include developing the teaching material, delivery of lectures, seminars and tutorials.

Alongside the supervision, assessment and marking of coursework and research dissertations, you will provide advice and support to students, as well as undertake teaching-related management and administration duties.
