The Research Assistant will contribute to a project on integrating simulation and synthetic data into a machine learning pipeline, targeting the specialised application area of sonar recognition systems. The role involves supporting the project team in software development, with a particular emphasis on strengthening the robustness and enhancing the capabilities of existing sonar simulation models.

About you

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, with proficiency in MATLAB and Python. Some experience or familiarity with sonar processing or related signal processing domains is desirable. The successful applicant will be able to work closely with researchers, translating research concepts and requirements into efficient, well-structured, and maintainable code.

Further information

This role is offered on a part time fixed term (0.8 FTE) basis with an expected start date of June 2026 and end date of December 2026.
