• Experience working with animal models of intestinal development and homeostasis.
 • Experience working with intestinal responses to injurious challenges, particularly in the context of genetic manipulation of the host.

<![CDATA[Research Associate (ED13204)]]> /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=ED13204 /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=ED13204 This is an exciting opportunity to join the newly formed Bath Mental Health Research Group (MHRG) at the Â鶹´«Ã½.

About the role

The MHRG is funded for an initial 5 years by the NIHR (National Institute for Health Research).

The focus of our work is applied research aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people in the local region.

This post will support the substance use and addiction work package of the MHRG, led by Prof Tom Freeman.

Key areas of focus include identifying substance use needs within the local region through quantitative surveys, identifying the extent to which current services meet these needs, and mapping the gap between need and provision to inform further service development.

Through this mapping work, as well as partnership with key stakeholders and people with lived and living experience, this post will pilot new interventions to address emerging areas of substance need, as well as supporting funding applications to support larger scale evaluations.

We are looking to recruit a candidate with demonstrated excellence in quantitative methods, and experience in addiction and/or mental health research.

We have a clear commitment to skills training and career development for all research staff in the MHRG. You will work under the supervision of world-leading clinicians and academics.

The Bath MHRG is partnering with the Universities of Bristol and Exeter (as part of the GW4 network) to deliver this project and there will be opportunities to work with researchers at partner institutions.

You will have opportunities to receive further research training (e.g., in PPIE and/or good clinical practice).

We are strongly committed to supporting candidates to develop personal fellowship applications hosted at the Â鶹´«Ã½.

We welcome applications from candidates with lived or living experience (either personal or within your family) of the areas covered within our research remit, including common mental health difficulties, substance use or neurodiversity. We will strive to make this an inclusive recruitment process. We plan to have online interviews.

About the department

Our Department of Psychology is world-renowned for its excellence in research and teaching, regularly appearing in the top 5 in national league tables (e.g., The Complete University Guide).

Research in the department occurs across more than six sub-disciplines in psychology, including clinical, cognitive, developmental, environmental, forensic, health, and social psychology.

The department has a rapidly expanding Early Career Researcher community, who offer peer support alongside a broader university programme of professional development activities for research staff.

The department is based in a new purpose-built £30 million building, containing 10,000 square feet of state-of-the-art labs for interviews, social group observation, EEG/ERP testing, virtual reality, psychobiology, eye-tracking, pain, cross-modal, and computerised testing.

Additional information

<![CDATA[Digital Portfolio Director (AS13228)]]> /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=AS13228 /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=AS13228 With a proud history spanning over 50 years, the Â鶹´«Ã½ has grown significantly in both scale and reputation, now home to a vibrant community of over 20,000 students from 153 countries. Renowned for its excellence in teaching and research, the University consistently ranks among the UK’s top five in the Complete University Guide 2024 and is placed 132nd globally in the QS World University Rankings 2025. Named 'University of the Year' and ranked 8th in the UK by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025, Bath is celebrated for its outstanding student experience and teaching quality.

Role

The Digital Portfolio Director will lead the Â鶹´«Ã½’s Digital Foundations Portfolio—a £20–30 million, five-year transformational programme that underpins the University’s strategic priorities and impacts every department and function. This is a rare opportunity to define and deliver digital transformation at scale, shaping how technology, people, and processes come together to create a connected, innovative, and future-ready institution.

In this role, you will:

 • Set the vision and operating model for digital transformation, building frameworks and governance from the ground up.
 • Lead a complex portfolio spanning research computing, education technology, student and staff experience platforms, and foundational infrastructure.
 • Drive measurable benefits, ensuring projects deliver tangible improvements to staff and student experiences.
 • Engage senior leadership and stakeholders, managing relationships across diverse groups and key third-party partners such as Infosys.
 • Champion cultural change, embedding new ways of working, building organisational capability, and fostering innovation.

This is not a traditional portfolio management role—it requires a visionary leader who thrives on complexity, combines strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, and is passionate about making a real difference. You will have the autonomy to shape what good looks like, influence the University’s digital future, and position Bath as a sector leader in digital transformation.

About You

You are a strategic leader with hands-on delivery experience, passionate about driving complex change and digital transformation. You have a proven track record of designing and delivering organisation-wide change programmes in large, complex environments, underpinned by expert knowledge of best practice in change management. Your background spans both digital and change projects, where you have managed multiple concurrent initiatives with intricate interdependencies and diverse stakeholders. You combine strategic vision with operational agility—setting direction while actively engaging in delivery, removing blockers and accelerating progress. You thrive in complexity, embrace innovation, and have a builder’s mindset—creating new frameworks rather than relying on pre-defined models. With exceptional leadership and communication skills, you inspire teams, influence senior stakeholders, and maintain relentless focus on delivery and measurable impact.

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Head of Systems, Data and Insights to drive digital innovation, champion evidence-based decision making, and lead a high-performing team.

 • Deliver insights and reporting that empower colleagues across the institution to make strategic, data-driven decisions.
 • Champion governance and compliance, ensuring data quality, security, and resilience.
 • Collaborate and influence across the University, representing Advancement in cross-institutional initiatives and equipping colleagues to self-serve data and insights.
 • Balance strategy and execution—from setting long-term direction to personally delivering high-impact technical projects.

If you’re excited by the challenge of leading strategically while delivering hands-on technical impact, we’d love to hear from you.

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings:

 • Extensive experience with relational databases (Raiser’s Edge knowledge is a plus).
 • A proven track record of delivering complex IT and change management projects.
 • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing teams and developing strategies.
 • Expertise in data protection, compliance, and governance.
 • Technical fluency in business intelligence platforms (Power BI experience an advantage).
 • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

This will include assisting students to access specialist funded support such as Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) to help meet their individual support needs.

You will work collaboratively to co-ordinate support across a range of University professional services, academic departments and external agencies regarding disabled student cases, establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with colleagues to ensure effective signposting and referrals in response to risk, complex need or specialist services.

A significant proportion of your time will be spent conducting appointments with students. Most appointments will be in person (on Â鶹´«Ã½ premises), although you will at times also meet with students remotely (especially during the pre-arrival period).

You will:

You will share this knowledge by providing annotated datasets to train and validate future AI tools, and by developing innovative training materials for polar scientists, for example using JupyterLab and Docker packaging, to create MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses).

About you

You will have experience in underwater passive acoustics and signal processing. With a good knowledge of ocean environments, you will also have:

 • A PhD degree in a STEM discipline relevant to the project.
 • A very good knowledge of the state-of-the-art in soundscape research and the latest themes in Deep Learning/AI, ideally adapted to underwater sounds;
 • Programming skills, ideally in Matlab, Python or similar.
 • A strong interest in the marine Arctic environment, including ice processes, animal vocalisations and the potential impacts of human activities.
 • The ability to conduct individual research in an international, interdisciplinary setting.
 • Proven potential to publish in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals.
 • Demonstrated experience in presenting results orally and writing technical reports
