About the role

Reporting to the Security Operations Manager, you will help lead operational teams to deliver a responsive, high-quality, and customer-focused security service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise security teams and shift supervisors in delivering 24/7 operations
  • Manage daily operations including staffing, resource deployment, and rota coordination
  • Act as initial ground commander during emergencies and critical incidents, including escalation and liaison with emergency services
  • Oversee incident management systems, ensuring accurate reporting, investigations, and evidence handling (CCTV and statements)
  • Support safeguarding, welfare incidents, and major university events (e.g. Open Days, Graduations, protests)
  • Ensure compliance with University policies and statutory requirements, and support staff performance, training, and development
  • Act as deputy for the Security Operations Manager when required.

About you

You will:

  • have experience in security operations with supervisory responsibility
  • be confident managing incidents in high-pressure environments
  • be calm, decisive, and able to take control in emergencies
  • have experience managing staff performance and operational issues
  • be strong in communication, report writing, and incident documentation
  • understand investigations, evidence handling, and basic legal principles
  • be organised with strong planning and resource management skills
  • hold (or be willing to obtain) an SIA Door Supervisor licence
  • hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to work on-call

The ability to build effective working relationships with staff and partners is essential.

This is a permanent, full-time role (36.5 hours per week, 5 out of 7 days), with participation in an on-call rota approximately one week in three. An additional allowance is payable for on-call duties.

The Âé¶¹´«Ã½'s Campus Services houses over 5,000 students throughout the academic year, and during the summer months external companies use our accommodation for conferences, summer camps, and away days.

The department was created in August 2022 by combining all the facilities teams across the University into one department to support our University strategy, in which strong campus services are essential to underpin excellence in education, research, and the experience of students, staff, visitors, and commercial customers alike.

With over 400 staff, Campus Services consists of a diverse range of teams, including Student Living, Hospitality, Retail, Cleaning and Portering, Security, Postal Services, and Landscaping.

About the role

As a Domestic Assistant, you’ll have a key role in helping students transition from living at home to fully independent living and ensuring all our accommodation users have the best possible experience when staying with us.

We currently have full-time and part-time opportunities:

  • 27.5 hours per week (part-time), worked on a shift basis of 9:00am–3:00pm or 10:00am–4:00pm.
  • 36.5 hours per week (full-time), typical shifts include working 9:00am–5:20pm Monday to Thursday and 9:00am–5:10pm on Friday. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning accommodation areas
  • Reporting maintenance issues
  • Ensuring health and safety guidance is followed
  • Acting as the face of the department by engaging with students and visitors

As cleaning duties are required in certain areas at weekends, there is an expectation that successful candidates will work weekends on a rota basis. Weekend working is mainly required during the summer peak period.

We are looking to employ a performance hockey coach who can work across both Women's and Men's programmes, providing technical, tactical and development feedback while leading coaching sessions with one of the performance squads.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced hockey coach to support the head coach with the successful development, delivery and management of the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ performance hockey programme. 

This is an exciting and dynamic environment for a coach, supported by committed student hockey players and an experienced IDT in a world-class setting. 

Off-pitch, you will lead video analysis sessions with the players and attend weekly S&C sessions led by the IDT team.

About you

You will have

  • coached in a performance environment and hold a suitable coaching qualification (EHB Level 2)
  • a thorough understanding of the BUCS leagues 
  • an understanding of the demands and pressures of a full-time training programme in an educational establishment
  • commitment to your own development and attendance at department CPD initiatives
  • ability to work in a team and on your own 

You should also be passionate about, and committed to, the development of the hockey performance programme, and strive for continuous improvement of the players and the team, leading to excellent performance.

Further information

This is a part-time role, working 20 hours per week for 28 weeks per year.

You will be required to work flexibly, including evenings and occasional weekends as required by the demands of the programme.

About the role

This is a combined coaching and management role. You will lead the programme both on and off court and should expect to be on court for a minimum of 18 hours per week delivering group coaching sessions. Developing and mentoring the coaching team is an important part of the role.

Principally the role needs to:

  • deliver a vibrant mini and junior development group coaching programme that attracts and retains significantly high target numbers of young players.
  • enable the progression of motivated and talented young tennis players into the hosted Regional Performance Development Centre.
  • enhance the student tennis offer collaborating positively with the student club committee.
  • increase the commercial surplus of the community tennis programmes.

About you

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and  experienced tennis coach with a minimum of a Level 3 qualification and experience of managing a team of coaches.

You will have a passion for working with beginners and improvers as well as developing and mentoring your team of coaches. You will be a highly organised individual who enjoys developing, communicating and delivering a clear plan. You will also have a keen appreciation of financial metrics and the importance of delivering to a budget.

About the role

You must be committed to the role and be willing to work individually and as part of a team, carrying out a variety of different cleaning roles and, where necessary, be prepared to undertake training.

The Sports Training Village is used for a number of sport events during the week and on weekends and we are looking for staff to be flexible and available to work additional hours if required (for which you will be paid accordingly).  

  • Through good attention to detail ensure all areas are cleaned to the highest standards including Changing Rooms, Toilets, Office Spaces, Corridors, Sports Hall, Stairs and general customer areas.
  • Maintaining Health and Safety standards using COSHH in line with the recommended instructions.
  • Refilling all Soaps/Antibacterial liquids/Cleaning agents, Paper Towels and Toilet Rolls.

About you

You will be an experienced tennis coach with:

  • a tennis coaching qualification
  • extensive knowledge and experience of mini and junior tennis and/or club coaching
  • excellent communication skills
  • enthusiasm with a passion for developing young people within the sport of tennis.

Our mandate is to introduce Tennis to all abilities and develop them to a county, regional & national level. We’re looking for someone to actively participate with us in this mission.

Further information

The Programme runs for 42 weeks of the year with an additional 10 weeks of holiday camps. Most of this work will be between the hours of 4-9pm Monday to Friday as well as Saturday mornings and may also include some early morning sessions. 

On average, you will work 1 morning, 4 evenings and a Saturday morning on each of the 42 weeks of the coaching programme and 5 weeks of holiday camps.

  • Undertake small to medium size installations/alterations works as part of building refurbishment or change of use projects.
  • Planned and reactive maintenance activities in the University's academic buildings, residences, and sports facilities. 
  • Repair tasks across the range of electrical building services, plant and equipment 
  • Some simple mechanical work 

You must have:

  • completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship, be qualified to minimum City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification 
  • a BS 7671 18th edition certificate
  • relevant technical experience in larger buildings or commercial facilities
  • good problem solving, customer service and communication skills 

Ideally, you will also have:

  • Knowledge and experience in the maintenance of modern fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, LV distribution, intruder alarms, access control systems, telephone and data wiring
  • City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification

This is a full-time role, working 36.5 hours (Monday-Friday) from 8.15am to 4.45pm, however, to suit operational requirements you may be requested to work flexibly at any time between 7am and 7pm. This high-volume kitchen is supported by a dedicated brigade of Sous Chef, Chef de Parties, Commis Chefs and General Porters.

  • Oversee the creation and delivery of varied, innovative, and cost-effective menus tailored to multiple outlets and service styles.
  • Ensure exemplary food safety, due diligence, and HACCP compliance, including monitoring, recording, and upholding all statutory standards.

  • Play a key role in supporting large-scale events and high-demand periods throughout the academic year.
