Description: Aims:
To increase students' knowledge and develop students' competence in searching, accessing and using information relating to medicines. To provide an overview of the science of evidence based medicine (EBM) and to understand the importance of classifying and evaluating the evidence that is used to inform their practice and clinical decision making.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this unit the student will be able to:
1. Use commonly available information sources to enhance evidence based practice. (Presentation)
2. Identify essential information needed to answer a medicines-related question, systematically search appropriate resources and evaluate the information obtained to formulate a concise answer. (Portfolio task
3. Critically appraise common types and sources of evidence i.e. RCTs. (Portfolio task)
