Description: Aims:
This unit aims to provide learners with a broad overview of the management of minor ailments in primary care and an understanding of the contribution that the pharmacist can make in responding to patients' symptoms.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this unit the student will be able to::
1. Analyse the current public policy in the management of minor illnesses (Portfolio diary).
2. Evaluate the routes of access to OTC medicines (Portfolio diary and critical evaluation)).
3. Critically evaluate the role of the pharmacist and medicines counter assistant in the OTC supply process(Portfolio diary and critical evaluation).
4. Understand the fundamentals in the conditions that commonly present as minor ailments (Portfolio diary)
5. Apply principles of basic clinical examination in the setting of minor ailments (WBA)
6. Reflect on their own practice in this therapeutic are and identify areas for improvement (Portfolio diary)
