You must not cover Osteoporosis as a therapeutic area on this unit if you have already used this area in assessments in PA50352/PA50341 (Providing Better Care for the Older Person).
Description: Aims:
To update pharmacists on the disease and patient monitoring factors that should be considered when providing pharmaceutical care for patients with conditions of the endocrine system.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this unit the student will be able to:
1. Describe and analyse the role of the healthcare professional / pharmacist in prescribing, administration and monitoring of medication for patients with diseases of the endocrine system (knowledge and understanding).
2. Explain the disease and patient monitoring factors in this therapeutic area (knowledge and understanding, professional practical skill).
3. Critically evaluate the evidence base for the management of endocrine disease (intellectual skill).
4. Reflect on their own practice in supporting patients with this disease and identify areas for continuous improvement (personal transferable skill).
5. Apply the knowledge gained in this unit to design enhancements to patient facing services and the patient experience (professional practical skill; intellectual skill; knowledge and understanding).
