Description: Aims:
The aim of this unit is for students to develop a critical understanding of the sport, tourism, and leisure industries.

Learning Outcomes:
Students completing this unit will be able to:
* Critically understand key concepts, issues, and epistemologies in contemporary sport tourism.
* Critically assess the economic, political, cultural, social and legal frameworks related to sporting events, tourism, and popular leisure activities.
* Critically interrogate the subjectivities that populate, are impacted upon and are realised in and through sporting, leisure, and tourism spaces. Explore these topics specifically as they relate to the policing, surveillance, vilification, and celebration of certain bodies in certain spaces.
* Identify and critically assess industry and government strategies for shaping leisure and tourism experiences.

Content:

* Introduction to sport, tourism, and leisure, including key concepts and methods for studying these fields.
* The practices of sport tourists and leisure participants; leisure, tourism, and identity.
* The impacts of sport tourism & leisure spaces (e.g., social, economic, environmental, community, health).
* Policy and management in leisure and tourism.
