Description: Aims:
This unit will allow students to contextualise the applied nature of pedagogy through bringing together knowledge from different disciplines to inform best practice in physical education, teaching and coaching contexts. To engage with a wide research base and empirical data to highlight the implications for planning and evaluating practical teaching and coaching sessions. This unit aims to be a crucial conduit in layering theoretically bound praxis for those wishing to pursue careers in teaching and coaching.

Learning Outcomes:

* To apply a wide range of pedagogical interventions appropriate and applicable to a various range of contexts.
* To evaluate the implications of pedagogical engagement in relation to teaching and coaching.
* A framework for study will strongly relate to the synthesis of a 'case-study' that will allow students to critically examine a range of pedagogical issues informing their academic and professional practice.

Skills:
The communication of intellectual work designed to broaden and develop their skills as applied practitioners. The students will critically evaluate their chosen pedagogical approaches and experiences through drawing on a compendium of theories, paradigms and concepts to further their understanding of working with children and young people in the field of sport.

Content:
Central to the content of the unit will be the identification of a specific case study e.g. age, gender, physical, social, psychological characteristics which can then account for specific pedagogical approaches.
