Description: Aims:
The course aims to improve individual student awareness and accuracy of production of segmental and suprasegmental features of speech and target individual pronunciation needs in order to produce effective comprehensible speech.
The course develops learners' listening skills in order to follow lectures, engage in seminars and participate in group discussions.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will have
* increased confidence in the decoding of connected speech.
* improved accuracy of spoken production.

Skills:
During the course students will have practised the skills of:
* understanding a variety of listening texts
* recognising and producing individual phonemes
* recognising and using features of connected speech including stress, phrasing, linking for fluency, intonation and clarity of communication
* producing comprehensible speech

* opportunities to practise distinguishing features of connected speech
* opportunities to produce effective comprehensible speech.
