Description: Aims:
The primary aims are to understand computer methods driving the motion of models, in particular physics based animation and human simulation. In addition the application of character driven motion to computer games. The students will study current modeling and animation research papers.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this unit the student will be able to:
* Demonstrate a deep understanding of the core principles of computer modelling, animation and games design,
* Develop and implement technological solutions to animation and games problems
* Critically scope and specify the technical requirements for a major project.

Skills:
Relevant skills in programming(TFA), mathematics(TFA) and physics based animation (TFA).

Content:
Review of Graphics pipeline, Modelling including parametric curves and surfaces, subdivision curves and surfaces, implicit modelling. Principles of traditional animation, key framing, parametric animation, free form deformation, inverse kinematics, dynamics, spring mass systems, numerical integration, intro. to Lagrangian dynamics.
