Description: Aims:
Develop a knowledge and understanding of advanced processing, concepts and technologies in process integration and process intensification and be able to apply this to design/re-design novel and resource efficient reaction and separation processes.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this unit the student will be able to:
* Specify and design technologies (including emerging and process intensification) to replace conventional ones.
* Develop and evaluate strategies for technology integration for process efficiency
* Identify optimal abatement and/or resource recovery levels

* the ability to integrate prior knowledge and understanding of process design with advanced level resource efficiency, and to apply this to process intensification and technology integration (T,F,A)

* Role of process intensification as a preventative environmental strategy to reduce material and energy resources and minimise waste.
* Selection and specification of emerging technologies, intensified reactors and separation processes.
* Green chemistry and green engineering concepts
* Advanced sampling and measurement.
* Optimal degree of abatement and sampling and measurement strategies for resource efficiency
* Integrating complex information in problem solving and decision making
* Energy pinch.
