Requisites:
Description: Aims:
* To develop and practise engineering experimentation and computational skills required in the chemical engineering discipline.
* To enhance students' abilities to present and interpret technical information.

Learning Outcomes:
After successfully completing this unit students should be able to:
* Conduct supervised chemical engineering experimentation.
* Use the resulting experimental data, analyse it and use it in advanced engineering calculations to demonstrate a scientific hypothesis or an fundamental engineering concept.
* Conduct appropriate error and risk analyses.
* Communicate experimental and scientific results in written and oral form.
* Prepare reports to high technical and linguistic standards.
* Use a process simulation package (e.g. ASPEN or other computer-based tools) to represent an individual process unit (e.g. a heat exchanger) and connect units in a simple process flow diagram.
* Prepare sketches and outline engineering drawings of process equipment, including the performance of preliminary design calculations to estimate the thickness of the walls of a pressure vessel and its flanges.
